Why consult a psychiatrist?

Our psychiatrists receive you as part of your treatment at the Depression Center, depending on your request. The psychiatrist is above all a doctor, specializing in psychiatry, a consultation with one of our psychiatrists allows us to establish a medical diagnosis. The disorders you suffer can, and are frequently the result of a physical problem.

Its role is twofold: on the one hand, it prescribes the appropriate treatment (magnetic stimulation, drugs) so as to diminish your symptoms, and allow a possible psychotherapeutic management, if it proves necessary. On the other hand, his status as a doctor gives him an advisory role. It is with him that you can learn about the pathology you suffer, and it will guide you towards the most appropriate care.

The psychiatrist can also be a psychotherapist, that is to say he can deal with both biological and psychological problems

Who are the psychiatrists of the Center de lapression?
Dr. Alain Meunier is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. Former intern of the hospitals of Paris, he is the founder of the SOS depression line. He specializes in the management of mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia) and Burnout. He is the author of several books on these subjects.

Dr. Gilles Bajeux is a psychiatrist and analytical psychotherapist. Former intern of the hospitals, he has practiced mainly in the liberal sector: activities in neuropsychiatric clinics of Ile de France, emergency physician for 25 years within the associations Urgence Psychiatrie and SOS Depression. He specializes in the management of mood disorders and psychoses, for which he has a neuropsychiatric approach. He also practiced as a psychiatrist in a geriatric home specializing in the management of degenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.

I am advised to consult a psychiatrist, but I am not crazy:

Long associated with the treatment of “madness”, the psychiatrist is the specialist of mental dysfunctions. In the case of depression, this dysfunction concerns a problem related to, among other things, a neurotransmitter (serotonin). Nothing to do with madness, but with the troubles concerning our psychic state.

For a cure of transcranial magnetic stimulation, the prior consultation with one of our psychiatrists is obligatory, it is he who will prescribe you, or not, this cure and who will define the protocol.

So, is it refunded?

Like any doctor, his consultation is taken care of by the social security. Our psychiatrists are referenced in sector 2, that is to say with excess of fees. Their consultation costs between 44 € (CMU) and 100 €. The social security reimburses 30,80 €, and the rest can be taken care of by mutuals (contact your mutual to know precisely how to take charge).
